the temple of imagination

Hi. I'm Giulia. Imagination facilitator, writer, possibility finder + creative pirate.

I'm one of the custodians of this temple, though really it's not owned by any one or thing. It's more of a conceptual spiritual home that each of us carries within us and contributes to.

I love video games (story-rich rpgs + cosy management), fantasy novels (all kinds), train travel, learning languages + finding the perfect bowl of noodles.

I believe that a world without delight + enchantment is not one I want to live in, and I believe that despite the fear of the current situation we exist in - there is still so much wonder and joy to be found.

And not just found - but made + cultivated + grown.

By us.

The imagination rebels that think differently, that can envision a different future, that can turn ideas into reality and allow the connective tissue of laughter + delight be a guiding beacon for what next steps to take. For those that want to believe there are other ways, more paths, more choices, more possibilities than the ones directly in front of us.

I wrote my first short story, the terror of seashore sam, when I was five years old. It was a supernatural murder mystery.

I always wanted to write, but thought I’d be sensible instead.

Sensible didn’t do what I wanted it to do.

So I thought I’d try un-sensible.

And I’m having way more fun.

I used to work in Finance, then as a translator, and these experiences taught me to stop running from who I am. That just because I can do something, doesn’t mean I have to.

I love learning languages and I speak Mandarin Chinese, Italian, English, French and some Japanese. All to varying degrees of fluency.

I travel often as a way to keep my soul alive. I spent six weeks in Japan in the summer writing, six months in Taipei learning, a month in Paris exploring and a month in Shanghai teaching. Adventures are important, as well as immersing yourself in different worldviews.

I love to write and I love to read. Stories are lifeblood and magic and inspiration and everything.

So I’ll do anything to get more stories into the world.
